Kirk
Swan showed an early interest in the roofing business, taking building trades
and vocational-technical training while still in high school. He graduated
early and was motivated to start building his business.
Swan
moved to Plano, Texas in 1981 and founded Swan Roofing, L.L.C.. In the early
years, the company operated from Swan's garage, providing roofing repairs to
area homes and businesses. Soon he was able to hire crews and take on larger
re-roofing jobs. "My office was
my truck, and I met the crew in the bank parking lot every Friday to hand out
their checks," Swan recalls.
In
1992, the company was able to expand into office space on West Parker Road, and
over the next four years continued to grow and establish its own headquarters
on Gables Court, which included Plano's only roofing showroom. Says Swan,
"It is very important to people
that they know where they can come and see you; a company like ours needs that
physical address."
Today
Swan remains a hands-on company field manager, and is proud of the team of
sales representatives and roofing professionals that make up Swan Roofing.
Swan's wife, Terrisa, serves as Operating Manager.
Swan
credits his company's growth to positive word of mouth and satisfied customers.
Swan Roofing has also been able to build relationships with insurers, providing
a steady stream of referrals. The company is
proud to be a "preferred contractor" for several major insurance
companies.
Swan
Roofing has grown its business every year since it was founded, even doubling
revenues some years. The company stays busy with over 500 roofing jobs each
year.
The
company is a certified contractor for several major roofing material
manufacturers and is a member of the Plano Chamber of Commerce, The Better
Business Bureau of Dallas, and many other professional trade organizations.
